We prefer to use Cyro's Acrylite FF-3 or UV OP-3 manufactured specifically for the framing market - for Commercial or Public Places.  And, will bid the project using it unless otherwise requested.  You will have your choice of Regular or Non-glare upon ordering.

 

Acrylite serves an important advantage over glass. The Acrylic used in our framing has superior temperature tolerance over glass and has superior optical clarity, reducing the 'green color' of most framing glass used by framers.  It has superior ultra-violet protection to keep your art from color shifting and greatly improves the impact strength of framed art.

IMPACT RESISTANCE

During hanging, moving and especially shipping, acrylic today is lighter weight and four times more shatter resistant than glass. Acrylic sheet is a safer alternative to glass for framing.

 

The durability of the framed art is extremely important, and this was another factor in Shadow Catcher's decision to switch to acrylic, which offers many times the impact resistance of glass. People tend to move around a lot today, changing residences every few years. When packing up a house, they usually do not package art securely, tending simply to stack frames in a box. In this case the frame is the last line of defense against the rigors and abuse of moving. Home safety is also an issue when purchasing art, since glass in frames can shatter, creating a hazard for everyone, especially children. 

 

More resistant to breaking when dropped or banged, acrylic is recommended for frames hung in areas that are exposed to the public and especially where children play. If you are framing anything for a public area or a child's room - definitely frame it in acrylic.

Safer Shipping

Packaged artwork endures extreme changes in temperature, causing glass to become brittle and possibly shatter when moved from freezing outdoor conditions into warm households.  Acrylic is also half the weight of glass, resulting in obvious savings in shipping costs and more stable in transport resulting in safe arrivals.
